Episode 30 - Face/Off
Sunday Mar 29, 2020
Sunday Mar 29, 2020
Wowzer! Thirty episodes? Why, this calls for a celebration! Perhaps a new theme song? Check it out, and while you're there, check out our discussion of Face/Off (1997) starring, our boy, Nicolas Cage and John Travolta. They switch faces. Don't worry about the science - it won't make sense. Plenty of fun was had by all!

Episode 31 - City of Angels
Sunday Apr 05, 2020
Sunday Apr 05, 2020
Welp, the Golden Age of Nicolas Cage movies (The Golden Cage, if-you-will) may be over with this week's installment. Listen in as Hanna and Steve rip apart City of Angels (1998) starring a Sad Boy Nicky and Meg Ryan. It's the most spiritual movie we've ever seen that also has full frontal male nudity. Side note: we also discuss a bit about The Death of Superman Lives - an excellent documentary about a time when Nic Cage almost played Superman on the big screen!

Episode 32 - Snake Eyes
Sunday Apr 12, 2020
Sunday Apr 12, 2020
This movie had so much potential, but they just HAD to ruin it. SOILED IT! This week, we watched Snake Eyes (1998) a "conspiracy thriller" starring Nic Cage in an incredible outfit and a bunch of people who will make you say, "Oh, that's that guy/girl from that thing..." (Gary Sinise, Carla Gugino, and John Heard). At least the cinematography was...interesting? Are you picking up what I'm putting down?

Episode 33 - 8MM
Sunday Apr 19, 2020
Sunday Apr 19, 2020
Yeah, you read that right. The title of this movie is "8MM" read aloud like "Eight Millimeter." I don't really know what else to say about this Joel Schumacher film from 1999. You might just have to listen as we discuss an excellent cast (including Nicolas Cage, James Gandolfini and Catherine Keener), half of an interesting and suspenseful script, and directing from the guy who brought you Batman's nipples.

Episode 34 - Bringing Out the Dead
Sunday Apr 26, 2020
Sunday Apr 26, 2020
This movie was boring - extremely boring. We had lots of fun talking about it, but DAMN this week's movie was a real stinker. You wouldn't expect 1999's Bringing Out the Dead (starring husband and wife Nicolas Cage and Patricia Arquette) to be this bad, but it was...big time. Also, this was directed by the great Martin "Uncle Marty" Scorsese. What an absolute disappointment. At least Hanna learned a lot about early '90 ambulance transmissions. So that's a...plus?

Episode 35 - Gone in 60 Seconds
Sunday May 03, 2020
Sunday May 03, 2020
Are you enjoying your quarantine? It's almost over, right? Only time will tell...but also scientists, doctors, and public health officials...ANYWAY! We watched the masterpiece that is Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) staring our boy, Nicky Cage, and Angelina Jolie. I noticed throughout the editing process that we got a few things wrong. They are (out of context): 1. Scott Caan is in this movie, so that's another parent/child combo he's acted with; 2. They can't run because the Frenchman will kill their mother; 3. They are, in fact getting paid. Lost yet? Give this ep a listen and educate yourself!

Episode 36 - The Family Man
Monday May 11, 2020
Monday May 11, 2020
Apologies for the slight delay folks! Had some technical difficulties, so therefore I also apologize if the inserted Nicolas Cage clips are louder than usual. I hope you all had a great Mother's Day filled with fun, frivolity, and staying 6 feet apart. We celebrated by watching a Christmas movie - 2000's The Family Man. This movie really holds up, and we get to see Nic have more on-screen chemistry with Tea Leoni than he has with his actual wife. Enjoy!

Episode 37 - Captain Corelli's Mandolin
Sunday May 17, 2020
Sunday May 17, 2020
This week, Hanna and Steve describe the greatest adventure movie ever made: Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001)...lol jk - this movie is painfully slow. A real snooze-fest. Like, not even "so bad it's good." Just horrifying in several different ways. Listen to Hanna's mental state unwind and Steve devolve into nervous laughter as they attempt to describe Nic Cage's latest WWII movie (also starring Penelope Cruz and Christian Bale).

Episode 38 - A Christmas Carol
Sunday May 24, 2020
Sunday May 24, 2020
Ya know...sometimes...sometimes, I've got a real grasp on what I'm going to type here. Sometimes, I make it up on the fly. This week, though...this week, I've got absolutely nothing. This movie broke us into twelve million little pieces. Listen as we discuss A Christmas Carol (2001/2003) and attempt to pick up the tiny, mushy pieces of our mental state.

Episode 39 - Windtalkers
Sunday May 31, 2020
Sunday May 31, 2020
Right now (and for a long time) the world is a mess. Not only do we need to tackle the global health and economic pandemic that is COVID-19, but the pandemic that is systematic racism continues to run rampant in the United States. Anyone who knows the hosts of this podcast knows that we actively fight against racism whenever we see it - sometimes against the people we love the most. Because we have many listeners who do not know us personally, I wanted to make it clear that we are trying to do what is right and also stay in our lane as a silly podcast on the life of Nicolas Cage. I'll be honest with you - this week's episode is slightly racially charged. We discuss a movie that should have focused on the brave Navajo Marines of WWII, but it instead featured Nic Cage as the star. If you don't already know, we are watching every Nicolas Cage movie in chronological order...this week's movie was not hand selected. Hanna and Steve take a lighter look at this movie and crack a few jokes, but we don't want to be insensitive. We want to entertain, and along the way, Hanna does a great job relaying some interesting historical facts. Please enjoy and stay safe!
